What we do
Building Community
This is my number one passion and the goal behind everything we are trying to do. Like the ants who work tirelessly to feed one another while providing vital services to the environments they live in, we try to work by teaching people how to live as part of nature. Many of the guiding principles we practice are environmentally focused based on ideas from Braiding Sweetgrass, and the One Straw Revolution. We try to cultivate a culture based on gratitude, reciprocity, and resilience through diversity.
Breathwork
One of my dearest friends introduced me to breathwork early in 2024. Since then, I have been learning and practicing with him to build community around this most valuable practice of learning to breath. We do ice plunges, monthly gatherings where we breath together, and continue to learn and cultivate community around this practice. On the farm there is a yurt set up to practice in, with options for individuals, couples, and groups to learn and practice breathwork for improved resilience and well-being. If you are interested in breathing with us, please reach out and we will be in touch.
Experiment
We see life as a great experiment. Green B.E.A.R. is the Bednar Experimental Agricultural Research farm. We are testing our version of 'do nothing' agriculture. We are experimenting with different breathing techniques to improve well being and connectedness. We are researching how we live with the land to improve it for future generations, leaving it better than we found it. The farm is where we test our theories and rebuild our connection to nature and each other.
Feed people
This is a farm, and we raise animals! We also have space for gardening so others can come and grow food for themselves if they don't have access to land. Our space and our surplus of food is meant to be shared, it is one way we build community. We plan to hold weekly and monthly potlucks to commune together and practice gratitude for all of the wonderful food the earth gives us. Check the calendar for updates and come have a meal with us. In our family, once you have eaten together with someone three times, you're family! We will always welcome you with open arms for big bear hugs and make sure you leave with a full belly.
Provide space
We know this land does not belong to us, we are humble servants to the land. We want others to know they have a safe place to come and just be. Be themselves, their true, fully authentic selves. We offer space for forest bathing, skill building, gardening, meditation, breathwork, and liming. Whatever you need to feel connected to nature, we try to accommodate. If you want to learn a new skill, we try to teach it, or learn it with you. If you want to be in community, we have space for that. There will be weekly gatherings to build the infrastructure for these activities and more!
